Two squad vehicles were damaged in a pursuit for a domestic violence suspect late Saturday night.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office was called to a home in Nessel Township around 11:27 p.m. to investigate a case of domestic assault, a news release says.
The suspect was reportedly throwing objects inside the home, and a woman, who called 911, had locked herself in a bedroom with children.
While deputies were responding to the home, they saw the suspect's pickup truck leaving the area and tried to stop it, but the suspect fled westbound on County Road 7 into Isanti County.
Two Chisago County deputies pursued the vehicle on northbound Highway 65, where a deputy attempted a PIT maneuver to stop the man.
The truck spun around and continued southbound on Highway 65 in the wrong lane. That's when a second deputy and the suspect hit each other with their vehicles, disabling them.
At that point, the suspect was ordered out of his vehicle and was arrested.
He suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital, before being booked into Chisago County Jail on charges of domestic assault, fourth-degree DWI and fleeing a peace officer with a motor vehicle. (He's expected to be formally charged Monday.)
One sheriff's deputy sprained a thumb, but there were no other injuries.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office was doing a "tweet along" Saturday night while the pursuit took place. You can read the tweets here.
