Three people were killed and one person was injured in what police are calling domestic homicide. That would mean at least 13 people have died from domestic violence this year in Minnesota alone.

Minneapolis police were called to the 5400 block of 34th Avenue South Friday around 7:10 a.m., where they found four people who had been shot, a news release says. Paramedics determined three of them – a man, a male teenager and female teenager – were dead, while a woman was transported to the hospital with "significant injuries."

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the names of the people killed, along with the cause and nature of their deaths.

Domestic violence

Investigators aren't looking for any suspects in connection to the shooting, noting there's no threat to public safety. Police believe this was a domestic-related homicide, and officers will be in the neighborhood on Saturday to speak with residents and distribute information about domestic violence.

According to the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women, at least 10 people in Minnesota had been killed as a result of domestic violence this year. With the three deaths Friday morning, that would bring the number to at least 13.

The group's 2015 Femicide report found 34 people died from domestic violence last year, including 22 women, nine family members/friends, and at least three men.

October marks domestic violence awareness month. There are various events planned around the state to raise awareness and funds for domestic violence victims.
