2 youths arrested after bringing fake guns on Minneapolis bus
Officers arrested two youths who startled some Metro Transit bus riders in Minneapolis late Tuesday afternoon with their toy guns, the Star Tribune reports.
Witnesses at a bus stop at 35th and Fremont avenues N. called police after seeing the juveniles with the rifles that fire plastic projectiles, the Star Tribune reports. After they boarded the southbound Route 5 bus, passengers called police, too. The two were arrested after riding a few blocks, the newspaper reports.
The two were cited and are not allowed to ride the bus for a month.
Authorities nationwide have been sensitive to reports about juveniles with guns, even fake ones. A Virginia 10-year-old was arrested after he brought a toy gun on a school bus in February, not long after an elementary student in South Carolina was disciplined after bringing a toy gun on a school bus.
