About 2,000 four-legged friends are scheduled to compete in the Land O' Lakes Kennel Club Dog Show in St. Paul this weekend, The Associated Press reports.

The dogs are competing for American Kennel Club awards at the event, which will be held at the RiverCentre Friday-Sunday.

More than 155 breeds of dogs will compete for the Best in Show title, show organizers say.

In addition, the Midwest Region Top Junior Handler competition is set to take place Saturday for handlers under 18 years old.

Handlers from a 15-state region, including Minnesota, will take part in that portion of the competition.

The main competition gets underway Friday at 8 a.m.

The Land O' Lakes Kennel Club event comes a couple months after the Minneapolis Kennel Club's 80th annual Dog Show at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. More than 1,100 dogs representing 125 breeds competed in the November show, the Star Tribune said.
