2017 Grammys: Who will win the hip-hop categories?

What's going to happen on music's biggest night regarding the genre it's near impossible to predict?

The Grammy Awards have always had something of a spotty relationship with hip-hop, which has the winners often fairly challenging to predict.

If you've got money riding at your local Grammy party for Sunday's ceremony, here's how to place your bets.

Some are exceptionally hard to pick, some are locks, and some are releases we can now say are "Grammy-nominated," which is pretty cool.

Best Rap Album

Coloring Book — Chance The Rapper
And the Anonymous Nobody — De La Soul
Major Key — DJ Khaled
Views — Drake
Blank Face LP — ScHoolboy Q
The Life of Pablo — Kanye West

Our Prediction: Tough call between Drake and Chance, but we're leaning Drake if only for voters caring enough about the album to land a Best Album nomination, not to mention Chance and Kanye's unconventional rollout of their projects may have alienated some voters.

Best Rap Performance

“No Problem” — Chance The Rapper Featuring Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz
“Panda” —Desiigner
“Pop Style” — Drake Featuring The Throne
“All The Way Up” — Fat Joe & Remy Ma Featuring French Montana & Infared
“That Part” — ScHoolboy Q Featuring Kanye West

Our Prediction: Between the name notoriety of Wayne and Chainz as well as Chance's momentum, he's taking this one. Especially considering it's the only eligible song performed on Ellen.

Best Rap/Sung Performance

“Freedom” — Beyoncé Featuring Kendrick Lamar
“Hotline Bling” — Drake
“Broccoli” — D.R.A.M. Featuring Lil Yachty
“Ultralight Beam” — Kanye West Featuring Chance The Rapper, Kelly Price, Kirk Franklin & The-Dream
“Famous” — Kanye West Featuring Rihanna

Our Prediction: Between the politics and the pop penetration, as well as the Academy probably still regretting snubbing Kendrick, Beyoncé's "Freedom" is the likely winner.

Best Rap Song

“All The Way Up” – Fat Joe & Remy Ma Featuring French Montana & Infared
“Famous” — Kanye West Featuring Rihanna
“Hotline Bling” — Drake
“No Problem” — Chance The Rapper Featuring Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz
“Ultralight Beam” — Kanye West Featuring Chance The Rapper, Kelly Price, Kirk Franklin & The-Dream

Our Prediction: The two Kanye records are likely to cancel each other out with voters, and given the massive pop phenomenon of "Hotline Bling," Drake's taking this.

Other hip-hop nominations

In 1993, Arrested Development became the first hip-hop group to win Best New Artist, and this year there's a 40 percent chance of a hip-hop artist winning again. If Kelsea Ballerini, The Chainsmokers and Maren Morris can be kept at bay, we think Chance the Rapper is the Best New Artist favorite with Anderson .Paak the award's dark horse.

Straight Outta Compton would win Best Soundtrack absolutely any other year if it wasn't going directly against Amy. Given Lemonade's impact, Beyoncé's "Formation" is the most likely the runaway winner of Best Video. While we don't think Drake's Views will land Album of the Year, the man behind the boards for the album's biggest hits, Nineteen85 has a great shot at Producer of the Year.
