3 men arrested in Illinois alleged to have carried out Bloomington mosque bombing

The Dar Al Farooq Mosque was targeted in August 2017.

Federal authorities believe that three men arrested in Illinois on gun charges are responsible for the bombing of a Bloomington mosque last year.

The FBI says that it arrested four men in rural east-central Illinois on Wednesday morning, charging them with possession of a machine gun.

But the affidavit filed in support of the complaint alleges agents have gathered evidence that three of these men were responsible for the bombing of the Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center last August.

These men are Michael B. Hari, 47, Joe Morris, 22 and Michael McWhorter, 29, all from the rural town of Clarence.

They have also been connected to the attempted bombing of a Women's Health Practice in Illinois in November.

The three men plus Ellis Mack, 18, have been charged with being in possession of a machine gun.
