The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the three Twin Cities locks on the Mississippi River to recreational boats, due to rising water levels, the Associated Press reports.

The Upper and Lower St. Anthony Falls locks in downtown Minneapolis, and Lock and Dam 1 located next to Minnehaha Park, were closed as flows passed 30,000 cubic feet per second, the AP says.

The National Weather Service predicts that it could be six days before flows fall below that level, when the locks can again be opened to recreational traffic.
