3-year-old, marrow donor celebrate boy's 're-birthday'

When he was 1 year old, a bone marrow donation from a stranger helped save the life of Caleb Nord. Donor Missy Slauter, of Michigan, had never met the boy until Saturday. They visited to be part of Caleb’s “re-birthday" – the anniversary of the day he received his transplant.

Missy Slauter, of Michigan, said she had always wondered if her bone marrow donation had helped the 1-year-old boy who had received it. Indeed, it helped save the life of Caleb Nord, now 3. Over the weekend Slauter met the boy's family for the first time, WCCO reports:

First-degree murder charges were filed Friday in Sheboygan County court against two Wisconsin teens accused of killing the great-grandmother of one of the boys. Six-year-old boy hit, dragged at MSP airport

Zachary Drew was meeting his father, who was returning from Iraq, when a car suddenly rounded a corner in the airport parking ramp and struck the boy. Drew suffered a broken leg, nose, and is missing some teeth, but doctors expect a full recovery. The driver was charged on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation and officials are awaiting the results of a toxicology report.
