42 United Technologies workers lose jobs in Burnsville, Eagan

United Technologies Corp. said Wednesday that it laid off 42 workers Nov. 16 at its Burnsville and Eagan facilities Wednesday as part of a worldwide restructuring of its aerospace business, the Pioneer Press reported.

The layoffs constituted 2.6 percent of United Technologies' 1,600 employee workforce at the Sensors and Integrated Systems facilities in Dakota County, according to a company spokesman.

In total, the corporation laid off 500 workers out of it 40,000-employee workforce worldwide, which amounted to 1.3 percent reduction, a company spokesman said.

The layoffs come only four months after United Technologies expanded its advanced aerospace manufacturing facility in Burnsville.
