Five people were arrested Sunday on suspicion of stealing items from cars in a church parking lot in Bemidji, WCCO reported.

According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, the suspects are accused of stealing items from vehicles parked at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Officers arrested the suspects after executing several search warrants, which turned up much of the stolen property, authorities said.

Three other associates of the group were arrested on suspicion of other crimes, authorities said.

The Bemidji Pioneer said the group of suspects was connected to thefts from other retailers in Bemidji as well.

According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the suspects remain in custody at the Beltrami County Jail pending review of the case for charges by the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office.

Investigators are working with the victims in these cases to return their stolen property once it has been processed for evidence, the page said.
