Twin Peaks at the 7th Street Entry

Reckless, snarky and lovably goofy, Chicago garage-rock outfit Twin Peaks managed the tall task of trojan-horsing a whole lot of peak Rolling Stones riffs into the Spotify playlists of dad-rock-allergic millennials. Their new record Down in Heaven cribs heavily from the '60s and '70s sounds while maintaining a streetwise punk edge, and though the recordings may be mellower this time around, it appears that the live show won't be. Last time these early twenty-somethings were in town, they were opening for Cage the Elephant at the Target Center. Catch them in the 7th Street Entry's intimate confines, because it might be your last chance.

Minnesota Lynx - WNBA Finals, Game 1

Listen. We can all be excited about the 4-0 Vikings. That's fine. But just this once, can we give the pre-season hockey a rest to clear out some room in our collective hearts for the greatness of the Minnesota Lynx? The power trio of Seimone Augustus, Maya Moore, and Lindsay Whalen are now making their fourth WNBA finals appearance in the past five years, cementing their dominant legacy over the league. If you somehow still don't care, let me spell it out to you: If the Lynx take home the trophy this year, they'll become the winningest WNBA franchise of all time. Get out there and cheer.

Glass Animals at First Avenue

At first blush, Oxford's Glass Animals seem to share a similar habitat to the new wave of trip-hop-influenced Brits like Alt-J, stuttering drum-machines and all. Fortunately, these waters run deeper, and Glass Animals' sophomore release How to be a Human Being nods along to percolating Tom Tom club synths, disco falsetto and XTC's sophisti-pop in equal measure. Even more refreshingly, these bright young lads just want to make you dance, and the crowds at Coachella can attest to their skill in that department.

Hullabaloo at Indeed Brewing

Indeed's Hullabaloo serves as the company's brewing equinox, transitioning from bright, drinkable beers to heartier fare for the colder months. The northeast Minneapolis brewery formally introduces the year's batch of Yamma Jamma, a lightly spiced ale brewed with sweet potatoes, and the high-octane, whiskey barrel-matured Rum King. The malty beverages help fortify against colder temps for two days worth of outdoor music curated by First Avenue. The sterling bill of local talent includes twangy indie quartet Night Moves, Southside Desire's soulful stylings, and teenage riot grrrls Bruise Violet.

Go Vote MN presents Debates Round 2 at the VFW

Regardless of your political affiliations, we can all agree that this has been a particularly stressful election cycle. Our friends over at Go Vote MN want to help you blow off some civic steam and make sure you're up to date on all the info you need to make informed choices this November, so they're throwing a debate viewing party at the Uptown VFW. Local indie-rockers Fort Wilson Riot and punk maven DJ Christy Costello will soundtrack the event, and there's always the possibility of post-debate karaoke manifesting itself in wonderfully embarrassing ways.
