525 crashes, 103 DWIs on Minn. roads over Thanksgiving holiday

A Minnesota State Patrol official says there were more than 500 crashes on state roadways from Wednesday to Sunday:

There were two fatalities, including an 87-year-old Pelican Rapids woman, whose car went off the road and into icy water Friday afternoon.

Jesse Tollackson of Dawson, Minn., 29, died in a head-on crash Wednesday night near Clara City, Minn., Fox 9 reports.

Man with 27 DWIs back in jail

A man who has become notorious in Minnesota for multiple DWIs is back in jail. Daniel Allen Bettcher, 59, was in the Otter Tail County jail on Tuesday night after he was caught driving a car in New York Mills, a violation of his probation. It is believed Bettcher holds the record in Minnesota for his 27 DWIs.

A wild weekend for DWIs in St. Cloud

It was one of those days for St. Cloud police. Officers arrested the same 20-year-old man twice in 21 hours on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, the St. Cloud Times reports. Also this weekend, police arrested another man on DWI charges – and then arrested his wife a short time later when she drove to the police station to pick him up and subsequently failed a sobriety test.
