8 arrested after reported robbery, high-speed chase in Twin Cities metro

Eight people were arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase through the Twin Cities following a reported robbery in Edina Wednesday morning, city officials say.

Just after 10 a.m., an employee at the Louis Vuitton store in the Edina Galleria reported a group of people entered the store, stole merchandise and fled, WCCO reports.

Police say the suspects traveled down France Avenue to Interstate 494, onto Highway 52 and then to Interstate 94, KSTP says, before ending around 10:35 a.m. on I-94 in Woodbury when an officer performed a PIT maneuver to swing his vehicle around, stopping the suspect vehicle, reports note.

The chase reached speeds of around 100 mph, the Pioneer Press says.

People who witnessed the pursuit described the scene on Twitter:

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle hit another vehicle, but no injuries have been reported, KSTP notes.

The eight men who were arrested are all from Illinois and are in their 20s and 30s, according to a statement from the city of Edina.

The city says more than $20,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from the store. WCCO reports police are investigating whether the Illinois men are part of a national theft ring.

Edina police were assisted by officers from Woodbury, Bloomington, Richfield and the Minnesota State Patrol during the pursuit, the city says.
