8 Panera cafes now deliver in Minnesota

They're targeting neighborhoods that don't have a ton of delivery options already.

You can now get a Bacon Turkey Bravo and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup delivered right to your door.

Panera Bread is rolling out delivery in the Twin Cities for those who are within an 8-minute drive of one of the participating cafes, according to a news release.

Delivery is currently available at eight Paneras in the Twin Cities, with plans to roll out delivery at all 22 metro-area locations by mid-September, a Panera spokesperson told GoMN. They're targeting suburban areas where usually the only options for delivery are pizza and Chinese food, the company said in the news release.

Here are the Minnesota Paneras that currently deliver:

  • 6064 Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center.
  • 12967 Ridgedale Drive in Minnetonka.
  • 8062 Old Carriage Court in Shakopee.
  • 901 County Road 42 W. in Burnsville.
  • 959 County Road E. in Vadnais Heights.
  • 2515 White Bear Ave. N. in Maplewood.
  • 3540 River Rapids Drive in Coon Rapids.
  • 2801 W. Division St. in St. Cloud.

To get delivery, just go online or into the Panera app, place your order, and pay online. There's a minimum of $5 on all orders, with a typical delivery fee being $3. Then you'll be able to track your food, and be notified when it's arriving.

Hours for delivery at most locations will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Panera is hiring delivery drivers

The company is currently hiring delivery drivers at many of the Twin Cities shops.

Panera chose to hire it's own drivers instead of using outside food delivery companies, which has become common in recent years. The reason, as Panera President Blaine Hurst said in a statement earlier this year, is because "hiring its own drivers was the only way we could ensure that our delivery guests get the same high quality experience they have come to expect from our bakery cafes.”

The Twin Cities is one of the first areas in the nation to get Panera delivery. A news release earlier this year said the company plans to create 10,000 new delivery jobs across the country by the end of 2017, with a company spokesperson telling GoMN they hope to launch delivery nationwide in 2018.
