80 handguns stolen in southeast MN gun shop burglary

Burglars stole around 80 handguns from a gun and fishing store in southeast Minnesota.

The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office was called to a burglary at the Millville Rod and Gun Shop at around 5 a.m. on Friday.

On its Facebook page, the sheriff's office said it is hunting for three suspects thought to be responsible for the burglary, and has appealed to the public for help.

Surveillance footage from the store was obtained by ABC 6 and shows two men breaking in through the front door, with one person taking ammunition and the other taking handguns.

In total, nearly 80 handguns and "countless amounts of ammunition" were stolen, the TV station reports, with owner Keith Shones and his family disturbed by the break in.

"My wife was up, my daughter was in the kitchen feeding the baby, all the lights were on. It did not bother these people; they were breaking in no matter what," Shones told ABC 6.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office on 651-565-3361.
