$8M view: State's largest, swankiest condo for sale

Author:

It's hard to put a price on a beautiful view, but Coldwell Banker Burnet says this one is worth $8 million.

The state's largest – and perhaps its toniest – condo has hit the market, a 12,000-square-foot, two-story pad with seven of its own open-air terraces and balconies.

The ultra-modern penthouse sits atop the Phoenix on the River condo building (right) across the Mississippi River from downtown Minneapolis, and it offers 270-degree views of the river and skyline. The unit has five bathrooms and three bedrooms, two of which are master suites, each with full baths and dressing rooms. More pics here.

The former owner of the condo was Austrian-born cosmetics mogul and Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher, who died earlier this year at 72.

The Star Tribune notes a few other selling points: dog-washing station, private elevator and chandeliers that were so big they were hoisted into the building by crane.

If you like the look of the place but are worried about what you'd do with all your cars – don't fret. The unit comes with eight garage spaces.

If it goes for its asking price, the sale would be one of the highest-priced home sales in recent years in the Twin Cities. A Wayzata home that went for $6 million last month was reportedly the highest-priced single-family home sale in five years.
