A Minnesota woman is in the running to be Kelly Ripa's co-host

A Minneapolis woman is a finalist to be Kelly Ripa's cohost for a day.

A Minnesota woman is one of 10 finalists in a competition to be Kelly Ripa's co-host.

Lissa Ingaldson – a Twin Cities actress and production manager – posted a video to Facebook Wednesday of her watching for the top 10 pick on "Live with Kelly."

Sure enough, when Ripa and Anderson Cooper – who People magazine says has co-hosted several times since Michael Strahan left the show in May – revealed the finalists, Ingaldson was one of them.

Ingaldson can be heard yelling in the background of the video, "Minnesota! Yay, this is so exciting!"

About the competition

Ripa has been without a set co-host for a while. And so the show put together a "Live with Kelly and You" co-host search.

On Sept. 23, people who work with the show picked out the top 40 applicants.

Then earlier this month, based on a video challenge applicants were given, the show workers narrowed the group down to 20.

You can watch the video Ingaldson put together here – it's very Minnesotan.

Then the top 10 contestants were picked by the public. People were asked to vote for their favorites.

Soon, show staff will narrow that down to five contestants and the top five will fly to New York to appear on "Live with Kelly Ripa" on Oct. 17.

Contestants will appear on the show throughout that week, with one being eliminated each day starting Tuesday.

The grand prize winner will be announced Oct. 21 and will co-host that day. According to the contest rules, the winner will not join the show permanently, but he or she will also co-host one day the following week.

You can check out the other finalists here.
