A pop-up winter village is coming to Duluth.
This is being called the largest outdoor local market in the region, according to the event's website. In addition to shopping, there will be food and beverages provided by Sir Ben's Tavern, Bent Paddle Brewing and Vikre Distillery; choral singers; gift wrapping; bonfires on the shore of Lake Superior; and more.
"The whole idea is to support shopping local. It is easy to go online and buy something made here in the United States or elsewhere. We want people to know it's just as easy to spend money locally, and the funds then stay in Duluth," Patrick Moore, a board member of Duluth Winter Village, told WDIO.
For every $100 spent at a local business, about $68 of it will stay in the community, noting small businesses tend to donate more money to local nonprofits, events and teams than big businesses do, the Duluth Winter Village website says.
Planning to go?
The village will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days, and admission is free.
Parking and shuttle buses will be provided between Glensheen Mansion (3300 London Road, Duluth) and Lot B at the University of Minnesota Duluth, as well as Congdon Park Elementary School.
