Airline passenger goes into labor on way to MSP, flight diverted
A flight from San Francisco to Minneapolis was diverted Wednesday when a passenger went into labor.
Delta Air Lines flight 2566 landed in Salt Lake City at about 10 a.m. mountain time, the Associated Press reported. The woman was taken to a hospital and gave birth there Wednesday afternoon, the AP noted.
A hospital spokeswoman told FOX 13 in Salt Lake City that the woman gave birth via an emergency cesarean section. Both mother and child were later in good condition, CNN reported.
FOX 9 reported that there had been a pediatrician on board the flight who helped the woman.
More information about the woman was not available, and it wasn't immediately known if she is from Minnesota.
A Delta statement on its website notes that the airline poses no travel restrictions on pregnant passengers.
Earlier this month, on Dec. 9, a baby was born on a Southwest Airlines flight, CNN noted.
