Transit workers say they ready to wrap up the two-year project and reopen all lanes if the weather is dry. Unfortunately, forecasters are predicting a 40 percent chance of rain or snow. The "mega project" has caused some severe headaches for drivers.

MnPASS lanes could be added to 35E in St. Paul

MnDOT officials want to add the new lanes and replace three bridges between Pennsylvania Avenue and Little Canada Road. If lawmakers approve the $80 million project, construction along the Interstate could begin next year and be completed in 2015.

Expect weekend delays, detours on I-94 east, I-35W

Road construction may snarl traffic this weekend, as all eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 close for crews to lay pavement between Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue and Highway 280 in Minneapolis. Interstate 35W in Arden Hills is closed in both directions between Interstate 694 and Highway 10 so crews can demolish the old County 10 Bridge. The closures continue through early Monday morning.

MnDot: weekend construction closes parts of I-35 & I-694

Key stretches of freeway will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday night, according to MnDOT. Westbound Interstate 694/Hwy. 10 will be closed between I-35E and I-35W for an overpass demolition. While southbound I-35W between Hwy 13 and Burnsville will close, too. Both are set to reopen 5 a.m. Monday.
