An Uptown restaurant is being replaced with a gay sports bar

Author:

A new restaurant is coming to Minneapolis' Uptown.

It'll be called Game Sports Bar Minneapolis. According to Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, it'll be the only gay bar in Uptown, and the first gay sports bar in the state.

It'll replace Salsa a la Salsa Mexican Grill at a spot that's seen a lot of restaurants come and go.

According to Eater, 2841 Hennepin Avenue used to be an Old Chicago. Then it became BoneYard, a Southern-themed restaurant. Less than a year later, it turned into Salsa a la Salsa.

The spot has already been sold to another restaurant group, and people can expect the switch to happen soon.

According to the new bar's website and Facebook page, it'll open this summer, yet. An exact date is not listed.

Mike LaGuire – who leads the restaurant group – tells the Business Journal that he hopes this new spot will be "the best sports bar in Uptown."

He also says he hopes it will be a bar for the LGBTQ community, as well as for the entire neighborhood.

LaGuire tells the Journal he plans to decorate with plenty of TVs and photos of athletes who've come out.

What will be on the menu?

It's a sports bar, so pretty much what you'd expect – burgers, wings, nachos, etc.
