Appeal to find Coon Rapids woman who went missing on her birthday

Author:

Authorities are appealing for the public's help to locate a vulnerable adult who has gone missing from Coon Rapids.

LaTrease Underwood did not return home from a health appointment on Thursday, which was also her 20th birthday, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension told WCCO.

She is considered vulnerable and has multiple health issues, a BCA release states, and has been described as a black woman with long, brown hair with blonde braids. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs around 240 pounds.

The Star Tribune spoke to her mother, Onna Underwood, who said she has mental health issues ranging from bipolar disorder to severe depression, and has an IQ of 72.

"She has the mind-set and the mind level of a 10- or a 13-year-old, and she puts herself in very dangerous situations,” she told the newspaper.

Her mother said she was told by staff at the Family Life Center that her daughter had left her therapy appointment with a man she believes she met via social media sites.

Anyone with information about Underwood's whereabouts is asked to contact the Coon Rapids police department at (763) 427-1212 or by calling 911.
