Jimmy John's is showing appreciation for its customers on Tuesday by selling sandwiches to them for a dollar.

This is only the second Customer Appreciation Day for the chain, which has been around since 1983. If you're interested in that dollar sub, here's what you'll need to know to get one.

  •  It's only happening from 4 to 8 p.m., so don't plan on a $1 lunch.
  • Not every Jimmy John's is part of the special. Check here to see if your local store is.
  • You can only get the special price in the stores, not on deliveries.
  • Only one per person.
  • But you ARE allowed to go through the line more than once, "at the store's discretion."

Also, the special price does not apply to the giant subs, only the eight-inch ones, which are numbers one through six on their menu. The BLTs and the Plain Slims are also a dollar.

The $1 price does not include taxes and if you want your sandwich on wheat bread you'll still have to pay a little extra.

Jimmy John's says it has 2,700 stores around the country. The website MyStore411 lists 84 in Minnesota.

Chipotle teachers special

May 2 is also the day of a special bargain at Chipotle. But that one is just for teachers, who will have to show their school ID.

It's a buy-one/get-one-free offer. Like the Jimmy John's deal, it's only in the restaurants and only one free item per teacher. It runs from 3 p.m. until closing at every Chipotle, the company says.
