Fire destroys haunted house in Burnsville

A fire broke out early Sunday morning at the Buck Hill ski and snowboard area in Burnsville. KARE 11 reports flames were shooting through a temporary tent structure when firefighters arrived. The haunted house was under construction and scheduled to open early next month. No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Stephen and Teresa Datta flew from Rochester to Pontiac, Mich., to be married at the Erebus Haunted Attraction, one of the world's largest haunted houses, the Oakland Press reports. They both wore black and she carried a bouquet of black flowers. They were married by a TV show host dressed as a warewolf.

Another big rig veers off highway, sinks through ice on lake

A semitrailer traveling through Waseca became the second in less than a week to veer off a highway and sink through the ice. KARE 11 says emergency workers were able to tow the truck out of Clear Lake, just off Hwy. 14. The State Patrol says the truck jack-knifed because of icy roads and high winds.

Kill sees room for improvement

The football Gophers are 2-0, but coach Jerry Kill tells the Pioneer Press there’s still a “lot of work to do.” Even though Minnesota clobbered New Hampshire 44-7 Saturday, Kill says the offense squandered opportunities -- opportunities that might haunt them against better teams.

Lakeville pilot crashes on highway, walks away

A veteran pilot had just purchased the biplane from a private seller and was on his way home when he noticed the engine quit when he switched over to the craft's auxiliary fuel tank.
