Argument over 'Magic the Gathering' card game turns violent
A 31-year-old Minnesota man has been charged with assault after an argument over a "magic" card game turned violent.
The incident happened at an apartment complex on the 1200 block of St. Germain St. E. just after midnight on Friday, a news release from the St. Cloud Police Department says.
A man called 911 and told the operator that he had stabbed a guy in his apartment and that the victim was going to die.
When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old St. Cloud man with several stab wounds on his front, sides, back of the neck, and face.
The suspect, 31-year-old Elija Dale Creech of St. Cloud, told investigators that the two had had an argument while playing the card game "Magic the Gathering."
Creech hit the victim in the face with a rubber mallet and stabbed him seven times, the release says.
The victim was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital. Police say his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Creech was taken into custody without incident and is currently at the Benton County jail facing charges of first and second degree assault.
