Armed man dies in officer-involved shooting in Itasca County


An armed man was shot dead by police in Itasca County, Minnesota, in the early hours of Saturday.

The Itasca County Sheriff's Office announced in a press release it was called to disturbance in the 400 block of 2nd Street NW in Cohasset at 2:45 a.m.

When they arrived, Sheriff's deputies were confronted by a man with a gun, who then threatened the deputies.

The man was shot by one of the officers and was taken to the Grand Itasca Hospital, where he died.

The incident is under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, as is standard protocol. The name of the deceased and of the Sheriff's Deputy will be released at a later time.
