Suspected gunman killed after attack in Tennessee theater
Just weeks after a deadly theater shooting in Lafayette, Louisiana, a man wielding a hatchet, pepper spray and a gun was killed by police after attacking patrons at a cinema near Nashville, Tennessee. There were some injuries, but no one was killed.

Malaysia: Debris is from vanished MH370
Malaysia's prime minister has confirmed that a Boeing 777 wing fragment found on a remote Indian Ocean island last week is from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. The jetliner mysteriously disappeared while in flight last year.

Top Republican senator's longtime aide indicted
It sounds like something out of Netflix's "House of Cards," but on the real Capitol Hill, it's led to serious charges for a longtime political operative. Jesse Benton, a veteran aide to Republican Rand Paul – Kentucky senator and presidential candidate – was indicted with two others Wednesday in an alleged scheme to arrange bribes for a key political endorsement.

'Hoverboard' flying high in headlines
A promo video showing a Lexus "hoverboard" in action on ramps and over water grabbed plenty of headlines Wednesday, drawing comparisons to a classic scene from the "Back to the Future" film series – which happened to be set in 2015. The nifty board is technologically a long way off from the model Marty McFly shredded on, however.
