Arrest made in north Minneapolis hit-and-run


Minneapolis police arrested a 24-year-old man in the hit-and-run death of a woman Saturday, KSTP and FOX 9 report, although the Associated Press says a 70-year-old has been arrested in the case.

The woman was hit at about 1 p.m. in north Minneapolis and she died later at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, local media reported.

Officers found an unoccupied suspect vehicle near the scene, the AP reported. The AP says the 70-year-old was booked into the Hennepin County Jail just after noon Sunday on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide.

There was another hit-and-run reported in Minneapolis Saturday. Police got a call at about 2:30 a.m. about a man lying in the street near E. 32nd Street and Snelling Avenue S., near Hiawatha Avenue in south Minneapolis, the Star Tribune reported. They found a 42-year-old man with serious injuries and he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died. His identity was not immediately released.

Police have made an arrest in a 32-year-old homicide case, the Star Tribune reports. The arrest in Kansas last week stems from November 1980, when a 22-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in her basement apartment at 3242 Girard Ave. S., Sgt. Bill Palmer of the Minneapolis Police Department said.
