Vance Gellert interviewed and photographed the survivors of the Interstate 35W bridge collapse, as well as families who lost loved ones, first responders and secondary helpers. He also took photographs of the twisted bridge parts as they sat on the landscape.

He spent two years on the project, the Associated Press reports.

Now his work will be on display in an exhibit called "Bridge" at the Mill City Museum starting Aug. 1.
