Authorities confirm murder suicide in Saturday's Eden Prairie shooting

Authorities have confirmed that a couple found dead inside their Eden Prairie apartment last Saturday died in a domestic murder-suicide.

The Star Tribune reported Friday that the Hennepin County Medical Examiner said 26-year-old Anitra Rochelle Williams was killed by her husband 29-year-old Derrick Antoine Williams, who then killed himself.

The shooting took place at the Eden Place apartment complex in Eden Prairie, on Saturday morning. Authorities evacuated residents while they investigated the shooting, once they declared there was no longer a threat to the public, the residents were allowed to return.

KARE 11 reports that police records indicate one prior contact with the couple. It was a report of a verbal domestic dispute in October of 2009.

It was the first homicide reported in Eden Prairie in three years.
