Body found in towed car is missing St. Paul teen

The 18-year-old woman found dead in a towed car Thursday was reported missing by her family last week.

Family and friends tell WCCO that the woman is Brittany Clardy of St. Paul.

Speaking with the Star Tribune, a family friend called Clardy "a wonderful young lady" whose smile "lit up the room."

According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, her body was found concealed in the car eight days after it was towed to an impound lot in Columbia Heights. The car was moved from an apartment complex in Brooklyn Park.

The tow truck driver working under a private contract did not immediately see the body in the car. Private towing companies don't usually do an inventory of a car when it's towed.

The sheriff's office is calling the case "a death investigation." Very few details were released.
