Police are searching for a convicted murderer who is wanted for a felony domestic assault, and think he might be in the Rochester area.

Sheriff's offices in Olmsted and Fillmore counties and the Minnesota Department of Corrections are searching for Tracy James Sailor, 43, who is wanted for domestic assault in Fillmore County after a warrant was issued on June 27.

The Olmsted County Sheriff warns members of the public should not approach Sailor if they see him. He was convicted in 2000 of second-degree murder, which he committed in Rice County.

He's been known to frequent the Chester area of Olmsted County and may be driving one of the two following vehicles:

  • A red Chevy K15 suburban with MN license plate 456 GZH.
  • A red Chevy 2-door hatchback with MN license plate 876 NJZ.

"If you see Sailor, do not approach him," the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said. "Call 911 immediately and provide as much information to the 911 operator that you can."

"That information should include your location, the clothing description of Sailor, how many people may be with Sailor, vehicle description, and direction of travel," it added.

ABC 6 reports that Sailor is just over 6-feet tall and weighs 200 to 225, though he has lost weight since the photo provided by the Sheriff's Office was taken.

According to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Sailor was released from prison in September 2014.
