Authorities seek 'armed and dangerous' escapee from western Wisconsin prison

Police in western Wisconsin are searching for an escaped inmate who is suspected of breaking in to a house and leading police on a high-speed chase.

The Jackson County, Wisconsin, sheriff's office said Keaden Dumholt, 20, escaped from the Black River Correctional Center in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, on the night of Aug. 2, KSTP reports.

Dumholt and another man are believed to be responsible for a home invasion a few days later, on Aug. 6, near Hayward in Sawyer County. They entered the home and confronted the homeowner at gunpoint, according to WCCO. The homeowner was not injured.

The two men then left and shortly afterward, their vehicle led police on a high-speed chase that began on Highway 77 near Hayward, said WCCO. The chase ended on County Highway E when the only person in the car - a male - fled on foot. According to the sheriff, the car had been reported stolen from Jackson County.

Officers from several departments including a K-9 unit searched the area for the suspect, but they didn't find him, according to KSTP.

Police describe Dumholt as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and green pants. Dumholt should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information should call the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department at 715-634-4858, toll free at 877-699-4112 or dial 911.
