Autopsy says death of 4-year-old Burnsville boy a homicide

The death of a 4-year-old Burnsville boy last month has been ruled a homicide, several sources are reporting,with the Hennepin County medical examiner's office saying Thursday that Keyontay Miller-Peterson died of blunt-force trauma to the abdomen.

The boy died at the home he shared with his mother on June 11. Police were called to the town house about 5 p.m. on a report of “medical problems.” The boy was dead when officers arrived, according to the Associated Press.

The Star Tribune reports the mother’s boyfriend, 24, was arrested as he tried to drive away from the home.

Both the Pioneer Press and KSTP-TV name the boyfriend, who has not been charged in the murder.

He was arrested and charged with violating a protection order on that day. He was also charged with criminal damage to property, fleeing a police officer, giving false information to police and driving after revocation.

The PiPress says he pleaded guilty to all five counts and was given a two-year two-month prison sentence on July 17.
