Bachmann raises $4.5M in third quarter

Fundraising powerhouse Rep. One of the most effective fundraisers in Congress, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., hauled in $4.5 million in the quarter that ended Sept. 30 – and it could prove to be the biggest total of anyone in Congress, the Star Tribune reports. Her DFL opponent Jim Graves plans to announce his total on Monday.

As of late July, the Sixth Congressional District was the second-most expensive House race in the nation, the newspaper notes.

Meanwhile, Friday in the Eighth District, DFLer Rick Nolan announced that he had raised $484,000, a bit more than incumbent Rep. Chip Cravaack, R-Minn., the Associated Press reports. But Cravaack had more on hand at the end of the quarter. Nolan began this month with $464,000, while Cravaack had $1.1 million, the AP says.
