Loved ones of a toddler whose body was found in the Elk River after she went missing from a campground released balloons into the sky Monday in her memory, the Associated Press reported. Monday would have been Daisy Jo Holland's second birthday.

A group gathered at Lake Orono – formed by a dam on the Elk River – also sang "Happy Birthday," the AP reported. Hundreds attended the event Monday, including some who did not know the family, WCCO reported. “Because I’m a mom. I can’t even fathom,” one woman said.

The child went missing Friday night near the city of Elk River, and after searches, her body was found Sunday in the Elk River a few hundred feet from where the girl was last seen.
