The Basilica of St. Mary is just one of the 25 metro sites receiving preservation grants from Partners in Preservation. The organization funds restoration of historical sites throughout the nation and awarded the Minneapolis cathedral over $100,000.

25 historic sites in Minnesota compete for $1M

The public can vote for their favorite historic places -- like the Basilica, Ft. Snelling and the State Fair Grandstand -- on Facebook through next month. The winner will be awarded $1 million in grants from the Partners in Preservation.
