BBQ joint the latest MN eatery to feature on Guy Fieri show

Diners at Bayport BBQ might have spotted a special guest in the eatery recently – Guy Fieri and his crew from "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."

The restaurant in Bayport, near Stillwater, Minnesota, will be featured in the coming months on Fieri's popular show, which highlights independent restaurants that serve up top comfort food.

Fieri and his crew visited the eatery at 328 5th Ave N. earlier this month, with the BBQ joint sharing several pictures taken during filming on its Facebook page.

"Filming was very exciting for our family," owner Chris Johnson told the Stillwater Gazette. "They filmed [on Thursday, May 14] our food and interviewed several customers. Then on Monday [May 18], they filmed all day and show a great deal of food preparation and also more customer interviews."

The newspaper notes that Bayport BBQ is not only known for its Texas-style barbecue, but also for its regular performances by blues musicians from across the country.

Bayport BBQ becomes the latest in a growing line of Minnesota restaurants to feature on Fieri's show.

Others to feature include Nye's Polonaise and Victor's 1959 Cafe in Minneapolis, the Nook in St. Paul, Donatelli's in White Bear Lake, Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet and the Northern Waters Smokehouse in Duluth.
