A group of guys will be competing to show the world what it means to be from Northeast Minneapolis – all in the name of charity.

The first-ever Mr. Northeast Pageant 2016 is this Saturday at Grumpy's Northeast, where 11 contestants will be strutting their finest flannel in a "ridiculous display of stereotypes and superficiality," according to a news release.

The 11 contestants were picked from a pool of male-identifying Northeast residents who paid $10 to be considered. (That money will go directly to benefit East Side Neighborhood Services, a nonprofit that provides social and other services to people, families and the community.)

And at Saturday's event, the celebrity judges – Sean Tillmann of Har Mar Superstar; Lori Barbero of Babes in Toyland; Tony Zaccardi of Romantica and Eleganza!; Robyne Robinson, a news anchor and reporter; and Aaron Neumann, a "Northeast guy" – will consider how Northeast each guy is, based on three categories: fashion, talent, and question and answer.

The winner gets a year's worth of beer from Indeed Brewing, and obviously bragging rights because they're living the most quintessential Northeast lifestyle of anyone.

What does it mean to be from Northeast Minneapolis? The news release sheds a little light on it for those who aren't familiar:

"Walking on nails with a million dollar scowl, there he is, Mr. Northeast. When asked he can discuss craft brewing for hours while stroking his luxurious facial hair. Dressed in only his finest flannel, Mr. Northeast is looking for the kind of love you can only find at bar close. From the wrong side of the tracks, collecting vinyl before it was cool, more legend than mere mortal, he’s got what it takes to represent his corner of the city. He’ll take the town by storm, with his all-American face and form, he’s Mr. Northeast!"

Doors open at 4 p.m., with the pageant starting at 6 p.m. It's a $5 donation to East Side Neighborhood Services to watch all the shenanigans. Tickets won't be sold in advance.

If you missed registering to compete for the title of Mr. Northeast this year, Kelly Moritz of Indeed Brewing told BringMeTheNews they hope to make it an annual event.

WCCO connects with Bloomington-native Brad Magerkurt, who was traveling to Iowa this week and bumped into the President Obama's entourage at a diner. Magerkurt shook the president's hand and said, "I am Brad the Beer Guy" ... the president then gave Magerkurt a very special gift. Turns out, the move was a very strategic political move by the tall skinny guy up for re-election in November.

Brad "The Beer Guy" Magerkurth who received an exclusive bottle of beer brewed at the White House from President Barack Obama himself is using the "honey ale" for a good cause.
