Beck will play the Palace Theatre in St. Paul this summer

Yet another big act announced for St. Paul's Palace Theatre.

A big first summer for the reopened Palace Theatre got bigger on Tuesday, with Beck announcing an August show there.

The California songwriter and critical darling will take the stage at the St. Paul venue on Thursday, Aug. 17.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, with a four-ticket limit per customer. Presales start on Wednesday. You can find out more details here.

It's the latest big name announced for the 101-year-old, partly renovated theater that reopened this past March with a show by hip-hop favorites Atmosphere. Check out our photos of that performance here.

Since then, The XX played a sold-out show, while acts announced for later this year include Pixies, Fleet Foxes, The War on Drugs, Grizzly Bear, Belle and Sebastian, Ryan Adams and Bryan Ferry.

Beck hit the big time in the mid-'90s with 1994 album Mellow Gold, featuring "Loser." He followed it up in 1996 with the massively successful Odelay, with singles including "Where It's At" and "Devils Haircut."

His most recent album was 2014's Morning Phase, which included the singles "Wow" and "Dreams," with his currently untitled new album expected sometime this year.

He last performed the Twin Cities in 2008, the Star Tribune reports, when he played the Roy Wilkins Auditorium.
