Berrios has his worst outing of the season

Whoa! Where'd that come from? Berrios gets rocked in Houston Friday night.

This isn't a sight Twins fans have seen yet this year: Jose Berrios got rocked Friday night in his start against the Astros.

Berrios was pulled from action after loading the bases with two outs in the second inning. His final line: 1.2 innings 4 hits 7 runs (just 2 earned).

A Jorge Polanco error in the 2nd inning kept the flood gates open, but Berrios fell behind in the count to 11 of the 13 batters he faced.

Berrios and Ervin Santana have been the most reliable starters in the Twins rotation this season. Berrios wasn't able to live up to his end of the bargain in Houston.

In a long 162 game season, baseball statistics usually have a way of evening themselves out. So a young flame thrower like Berrios shouldn't be expected to keep up the torrid pace he started with in 2017. However, we haven't seen Berrios struggle as badly as he did in Friday night's game all season long.

His ERA went from under 2.0 in his first month to an eyebrow-raising 4.32 after Friday's clunker.

The Twins will hope Jose can put this one behind him – they will need him down the stretch as one of their reliable starters if they are going to be serious about making a run for the postseason.
