BET Awards give us Bruno, Chance and a big win for Beyoncé

Beyoncé wins big, Remy Ma pulled and upset and Chance called for change at the BET Awards.

Sunday night's BET Awards was four hours of black star power.

As always, the best performances featured some of the music's biggest names at the ridiculously loaded 2017 BET Awards. Bruno Mars proved it was scientifically possible to both start the show and steal it immediately, Khalid solidified his status as the most promising emerging artist of 2017, Migos had a career-best televised performance of "T-Shirt / Bad and Bougie" and Kendrick Lamar proved once again that the BET Awards are his domain as his surprise cameo on Future's "Mask Off" made for one of the musical moments that keep people tuning in.

There was much ado about the speeches as well. While the night's big winner Beyoncé wasn't on hand to collect her five BET Awards as she was presumably collecting her newborn twins, those who were in attendance created plenty of memories. The shock of the night came from Remy Ma winning Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for the first time since 2005, effectively breaking rival Nicki Minaj's seven-year streak and dissing her while celebrating that life has second chances.

But the moment most celebrated on social media has to be two-time winner Chance the Rapper's acceptance speech. In addition to taking home Best New Artist, Chance was honored with the 2017 Humanitarian Award. Introduced with a video tribute from Michelle Obama, Chance didn't prepare a speech in favor of "speaking from the heart." Citing specific changes he'd want to make and certain recent political controversies, Chance also turned inward for reflection of making the world a better place.
