Beware: Thin ice!

Author:

Despite the blast of wintry weather, ice on lakes and ponds across the state is not yet thick enough to be considered safe.

KSTP quoted Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom, who reminds people to stay off the ice. Bostrom urges parents to talk with their children to underscore the danger.

On Saturday three boy,s ages, 8, 11 and 12, fell through thin ice into the frigid water in a drainage pond in Little Canada. They were safely rescued by the father of two of the boys and transported to Regions Hospital as a precaution.

Meanwhile, two men in Otter Tail County fell through the ice while ice fishing.

Both were also able to get out safely and call 911 on their own.
