A 27-year-old man is suspected in the death of a bicyclist hit by a car in Minneapolis early Saturday morning, WCCO-TV reports.

Minneapolis police say the crash happened at 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Street East and Cedar Avenue South. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found the bicyclist, a 28-year-old Minneapolis woman, dead. The suspected driver and vehicle involved had left the scene.

A witness description of the vehicle led police to Franklin Avenue East and Bloomington Avenue South. Police said the suspect, Juan Ricardo Hernandez-Campceco, showed signs of alcohol intoxication and was arrested.

He was later processed for DWI and booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of DWI and criminal vehicular operation, the Star Tribune reports.

Police urge any other people who may have witnessed the accident to call them at 612-692-8477.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says Elyse Stern of Minneapolis died from multiple blunt force injuries after she was struck early Saturday morning, KARE 11 reports.
