Former President Bill Clinton was in Minnesota Saturday to dedicate a statue at the state Capitol in honor of the late former Vice President and U.S. Sent. Hubert H. Humphrey. Clinton. "He believed that with a happy heart, and an open ear and an honest dialogue -- a lot of conflict could be resolved," Clinton said of Humphrey.

It's taken nearly two decades of planning, but come Aug. 4 a bronze statue of former vice president, U.S. senator and Minneapolis mayor Hubert H. Humphrey will dedicated on the State Capitol Mall in St. Paul. Humphrey, frequently referred to as "The Happy Warrior," died in 1978 at age 66.

Fundraising complete for new firefighters memorial

The State Capitol will soon be home to a new memorial honoring Minnesota firefighters who have died in the line of duty. According to WCCO, fundraising for the $600,000 project is complete. Plans include moving a statue at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to the Capitol's south mall. It will join other veteran memorials next year.

Bill Clinton, Paul Ryan to campaign in Minnesota on Sunday

Former President Bill Clinton will be at St. Cloud State University's Atwood Center Sunday on a campaign stop for President Barack Obama. Also scheduled to stop in Minnesota Sunday is Republican vice presidential candidate U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, who plans on holding a "victory rally" at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Bill Clinton endorses Tarryl Clark

Democrat Tarryl Clark is one of three DFL candidates looking to unseat GOP Congressman Chip Cravaack in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District this fall. Former President Clinton wrote in a statement, "Tarryl's focus for almost 25 years has been improving Minnesota. I am confident she will bring the common sense solutions we need to Washington." Clark faces former Rep. Rick Nolan and former Duluth City Councilor Jeff Anderson in the Aug. 14 primary. Nolan is the DFL endorsed candidate.

Several hundred people joined the former Republican presidential candidate in St. Paul Saturday afternoon. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and former candidate for governor Tom Emmer also spoke at the annual Tax Cut rally, according to WCCO.

Bill Clinton to visit Grand Forks March 17

The former U.S. President is scheduled to speak at the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party's state convention. Clinton also plans to tour some of the areas he visited 15 years ago, days after the 1997 floods devastated the Red River Valley.
