Ever since Bob Dylan won a Nobel Prize last fall, folks in his hometown of Hibbing have been brainstorming ways to honor the singer.

Members of the community founded the Hibbing Dylan Project, with a goal to "raise awareness and honor Bob Dylan's life, career, and creative achievements," the Facebook page says.

Their latest project? Decorating the city with murals that celebrate Bob Dylan and the Iron Range.

Minneapolis already has an enormous mural of the Tambourine Man, so it's only right that his hometown get one, too.

However, Minnesota Brown says these will be temporary murals, displayed in empty storefronts downtown. The effort is in partnership with the nonprofit Hibbing Arts Council and Lees Rental company.

And the group is looking for artists to help design and create the murals.

They're holding an open call for artists and designers of all forms, especially those who work in murals.

Here's what you'll need for your application:

• Artist’s resume (highlighting any public art projects).
• Two letters of recommendation (detailing the timeliness of your work).
• Five representative digital images of your work.
• A written proposal with initial imagery to demonstrate your concept at one of the three spaces available.

Submissions will be judged on quality, originality, and appeal of the concept, appropriateness for a public setting, the artist’s proven capacity for timely completion of the project, and how well the art capture's the spirit of Dylan's work.

Artists from any location can apply, but preference will be given to local, regional, or Minnesota artists. They must be available to complete the project by May 1.

The selection committee will choose finalists during the first week of April, and the murals will be installed beginning in early May. The art will stay up until September or until the property has been rented, whatever comes first.

If you're interested, email an application to hibbingdylanproject@gmail.com by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 31.

Good luck!
