Body found in Minnesota River near Mankato


An investigation is underway in North Mankato after the discovery of a body in the southern Minnesota city this weekend.

According to the Mankato Free Press, local authorities responded to a report of a deceased female in the Minnesota River and pulled the body out early Saturday afternoon.


Authorities have released few details so far, but KEYC reports the body was found near Mankato's historic Union Depot and Reconciliation Park.

The station also says a dive team was called to the scene.

The cause of death and identity of the deceased will be confirmed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner, where the body was taken, multiple outlets report.

North Mankato is situated to the northwest of Mankato just across the Minnesota River.
