Police searching for a man missing from Madison Lake, Minnesota, have found a body they believe to be his.

Searching for 38-year-old Michael Cook, the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department announced Wednesday that a State Patrol helicopter spotted a body in a slough near the Madison Lake campground.

Ground officers went to the scene to recover the body, which the sheriff's office says "appears to be that of the missing person."

Official identification will be made by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner, where the body has been taken for autopsy.

Cook was last seen at his home in Madison Lake on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and had not been heard from since.

Sheriff's Office Captain Rich Murry told KEYC that Cook had been reported missing by his employer, who said it was "very out of character for him to miss work."

Cook is said to have been working in the Madison Lake area for the past couple of months.
