The body of a person found in east St. Cloud Tuesday afternoon has been identified by the Benton County Sheriff's Office as a Foley man missing since early December, WJON Radio reports.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office says the body was identified as 31-year-old Jamie Wylie.
Benton County officials said Wylie was reported missing Dec. 15. According to WCCO, the last time anyone had contact with the man was Dec. 9 by cell phone. Wylie’s wife and friends reportedly said he was last seen leaving a friend’s home St. Cloud and was upset at the time.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that the cause and manner of Wylie's death is still pending and the investigation is ongoing.
Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett said their office received a report of a dead body about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Sheriff's officials reportedly found the Wylie's body between Mayhew Lake Road and East St. Germain Street along County Road 75.
Wylie's case was indirectly connected to another high-profile missing person's case last year. He was reported missing on the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of his friend, Danielle Jelinek, the Pioneer Press said. Friends told the newspaper that Wylie and Jelinek ran in the same social circles.
Wylie reportedly grew up in Cottage Grove, and Jelinek was a Cottage Grove native.
The body of Jelinek – who was living in Oakdale at the time of her disappearance – was found in May a swampy area about 200 yards from the Chisago County home of her on-again, off-again boyfriend Aaron Schnagl.
Schnagl was indicted in December on third-degree murder charges in connection with Jelinek's death.
