A woman who had been missing for about a month was found dead on Tuesday, a quarter mile from her Minneapolis home, police confirmed Thursday.

People walking in Theodore Wirth Park found the body of Elle Sachs, 46, along railroad tracks near Wirth Parkway and Plymouth Avenue, the Star Tribune reported.

She was last seen on Feb. 17 near her Xerxes Avenue North home, the Pioneer Press says. When she went missing, family and friends told police they were worried she may have stopped taking her medication.

Search parties had combed the eastern side of the park, where she was known to go hiking, the Pioneer Press reported. Another search party was scheduled for this weekend, the Star Tribune says.

Sachs worked in mental health care and did postgraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, the Star Tribune says. A Facebook page dedicated to finding Sachs is filled with heartfelt messages about her life.

Police officials say they expect the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office to release a cause of death on Friday, KARE 11 says.
